Description
The Ultimate Mosquito Trap
This project was inspired by the “Mosquito Magnet Pioneer” that costs around 900€, so clearly not affordable by everyone.
Operating principle :
The device uses a combination of Mosquito Bait, UV light and a unique ventilation system to attract mosquitoes. Once lured in, insects are funneled into a chamber and trapped by a powerful fan. A constant airflow within the trap ensures they cannot escape. To power it, you can either use 5V USB C power adater or the solar pannel and battery. Beware that the solar pannel has not been tested yet.
The combination of the Bait, UV light, Fan,
Power options:
- USB-C: Connect to a 5V USB-C power adapter.
- Solar: Utilize the built-in solar panel and battery for off-grid operation. Please note that solar panel performance is still under evaluation - not to be trusted at this stage
Usage :
- There are 3 buttons :
- First one is tho chose if you power from the solar pannel+battery or fromthe grid using a usb c power adapter.
- Second button is to power ON/OFF the UV LED (consider setting it off if you use the solar pannel and you don't get enough power)
- Third button is a speed setting for the fan in order to keep it quiet enough ( I run it on the highest speed and it's very quiet)
- Location :
- The best location is nearby so plants with enought room above
- Since the fan is pushing the sents of the baits, attracting the mosquito, don't keep it near you.
- Although it's not been tested thouroughly, it should be able to handle some light rain. The are some rain evacuation holes and the electronic is protected

All parts were printed in PETG Black or White (Mosquitos hate white but are attracted to black, so only the funnel should be black). All parts have been design to make them easy to print. (All parts were printed on a FLSUN SR, I don't own a Bambu but hope it'll change soon)
The assembly is very straightforward, in particular with the photos, but keep in mind that this is a V1 of the project so there might not be fully optimized.
A detailed wiring diagram will be added soon.
You will need a soldering iron in order to connect the LEDS
Plenty of additionnal holes are availble if you want to add feet, or hang it, or add an handle to it.
If you like this project and understand the amount of work behind please consider buying me a coffee :) https://buymeacoffee.com/jem24h (May be one more step towards owning a Bambu printer)
