Why the model?
I've decided to create this model after I got annoyed by the ridiculously small size of every darts case I could find, they not only don't fit spare parts, but most of them don't even fit an assembled dart properly.
Features
With this design I wanted to create a case that can fit 3 darts without needing to take them apart or damage their wings, and to have enough space to fit spare parts in as well. The final design has the following features:
- Snap-in holder for 3 fully assembled darts (max 165mm total length)
- Screw-in holder for 2 sets (6 pcs) of spare shafts (max 60mm)
- Holder for 2 sets (6 pcs) of wings
- 1 large container for small parts
- 2 small containers for small parts
- Easily removable holders and containers
- Printed in separate parts, so you can mix and match colors to your liking
The case has space for 2 extra sets of wings and shafts, and 3 compartments for small parts like tips, rubber rings or anything else that fits.
Customizability
The snap-in holder was designed for weights with a diameter of 8mm, this can be adjusted in the fusion360 file in the “Change Parameters" menu.
To secure the dart clip to the case you have to use double sided tape. I used a fairly strong tape (rated for 50kg/m, probably overkill) with a thickness of 1.2mm, but you can adjust the thickness in the “Change Parameters" menu as well.
Alternatively, if you don't want/need the clip, you can put a 3rd shaft holder in it's place (But I would recommend keeping the clip). You can also put the clip in any of the 3 compartments, to better suit your needs.
For the compartments you have 2 options. Either a container or a lid. I recommend printing the container, as the lid cannot be orientated to be strong in every place. You might need to round off the tabs on the side of the containers with a sandpaper, so you can easily open and close them.
The lid has 2 variations, one with a dragon design imprinted and another one which doesn't have designs on it. Print whichever you prefer. You can also make your own design using the blank model.
Assembly
To make this case you'll only need the printed parts, and 6 pcs of M3x30 screws. You can assembly the box based on the original model. After you're done with that you can just simply press the inserts into the box. You don't need to use any adhesives as the friction will hold it in place. After that you can insert the containers, the holders, and the dart clip using a double sided tape (read more above). All the holders and containers are designed to easily be removed and inserted at a 90 degree angle.
