Description

Two Dozen Egg Holder!!

This is a variation of my three dozen holder where this egg tray holder has only two trays that will hold 12 eggs each for a total of 24. Each tray can be pulled out and set on the counter for easier access when needing more than a couple of eggs at one time. This model works better for smaller fridges.

**Update 1/17/2026**

I've revised some details related to how the components fit and snap together.

  • I've added some additional clearance between trays to allow for bigger eggs.
  • The side rails have been revised for more rigidity to make the tray stronger.
  • The trays have been modified to eliminate any support for printing.  The clips on the print bed aren't required but can be put on the bottom by sliding from the center where there is a recess and then sliding to the side.  The tolerance will be tight.
  • The method for connecting the side panels has been revised to two separate bow-tie keys that are pressed into the side panels instead of the integrated tabs that required support.
  • The top & bottom brackets have been revised to include a second plate with larger tolerances to allow easier snap into the side panels.
  • Inserts for smaller eggs have been added.  They are designed to snap into the existing holes in the trays one at a time.  They are sized based on Quail eggs with the hole diameter set at 26mm.

****Update  8/30/2025****

  • Side panels were updated to close a gap where the single bracket attaches to the panels.  This affected the mount that was closest to the front or back of a panel.

****Update****

  • Side panels were updated to correct a gap between the panel and the bed at the top rounded corner for both the front & back panels.

****Update****

  • Supports were added to each plate where required.  Not sure how they were not included prior to update.

Main Design Features

  • Each tray holds 1 dozen eggs.
  • The trays can be pulled out and set on the counter while keeping the eggs in place.
  • The assembly is all friction fit but could be glued together. The side rails for the trays should be glued or melted onto the trays to keep them in place.
  • The space between the trays should accommodate XL eggs.

Assembly

The trays and sides are printed in two parts and snap together using tabbed keys. This allowed a longer design to accommodate more eggs. I have printed everything in PLA. the bracket work in PLA, but are easier to snap in place if printed in PETG.

Side Panels

  1. Snap the front and back panels together and align the tabbed keys.
  2. They can be glued but I have not had any issue with them separating without gluing.

EggTrays:

  1. Snap the two main sections together and press on each tab key to align top surface.
  2. The side rails then slide on each side. I have been gluing the side rails at the front and rear to keep them from moving. They can be melted to the trays as well. If not glued or melted in place, the rails will tend to slide when they hit the back of the holder.

Top & Bottom Brackets:

  1. snap the brackets onto the recessed areas on the top and bottom of the side panels. Careful not to push too hard or the side can buckle at the slide grooves. The design has tight tolerances so glue is not needed. The bracket will click in place easier if they are pushed starting at a slight angle.
  2. The double bracket goes in the middle to help provide support for the vertical seam.

I have put rubber feet on the bottom brackets to help keep it from sliding around in the fridge.

Dimensions:

  • Height: 160mm
  • Width: 115mm
  • Length: 310mm (tray tabs at front and back extend 20mm)
