D8x3 mm Round Magnet (20PCS) - CA008

Description

I happened across two other Ozempic cases, liked what I saw, and luckily read the comments before printing to discover that not all injector pens are the same size. I've attached a photograph to show the pen pocket with a steel scale: the pocket's dimensions are 160mm x 20mm. Each case half has a 10mm deep recess for the pocket.

Four 8mm diameter x 3mm thick magnets hold the case closed; the recesses for the magnets provide a very light interference fit without using adhesives.

The hinge uses 1.75mm filament as hinge pin; the hinge holes are sized to allow the filament to slide through with only a little force.

Cool project for one of my first Prints, print around the hinges is a little rough but I think that has more to do with my inexperience with 3d printing and is something that I can clean up and post processing, Great work on the model

Thanks for the comment. it's tough to tell from the image (I think they get shrunk on upload), but it looks like ripples on the hinge knuckles? I'm not sure it's a problem with your inexperience alone. Small round features in that orientation can print a bit poorly. One way to fix it would be to use the variable layer thickness feature. You might try that if you want to experiment. Though, this model is already at .12mm/layer. Call it my inexperience, not yours. I'm open to suggestions how to deal with the lines on the knuckles.

Printed perfectly. It was a bit of work to clean up around the hinges and the 8mm x 2mm magnets fit flush with the case after pressing in (tried the 3mm and the case wouldn’t close). Also fits in the Amazon travel case: SUNMON Insulin Cooler Travel Case... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0D8Q1Y3R1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share thanks for the great design!

I have printed a handful of small boxes like this. Your's worked out best because of the hinge design and the finger hole. I needed a box for 3 pens so I took a shot at editing your files in Fusion. I suck at Fusion... In any case, I am printing side two right now but it looks like it will do what I want. Problem areas for my edit are the finger hole. Couldn't replicate your wider than deep hole and the dividers didn't wind up shaped like they were in my head!

Do you still need a metal shaft?

No. I designed it to use a length of 1.75mm diameter PLA filament. Hinge hole is sized for the lightest line fit - just a little friction during insertion. I cut mine slightly shorter than the full hinge length and then used a toothpick to push it in so it was fully recessed on both sides. This box should never see heavy loads so the filament hinge pin should be plenty robust.

This was a tough print. The hinges were difficult print and the filament to pass through as the pin was extremely tight. Eventually, I got it to pass through them all, everything fit, and satisfied with the result. If I were to do it again, I might scale up 1-2%.
