Hi 👋,

Tim here. I recently converted my campervan 🚐. At home, we had the IKEA ÖBONÄS wall shelf with suction cups. Since it kept falling off the wall in the kitchen 🍳 and we could no longer use it, I had the idea of utilizing the wall shelves in the camper. As I frequently work with magnets in the campervan 🧲, I wanted to find a magnetic solution here as well.

The result is a simple adapter that combines a magnet with a threaded adapter (M8→M6), making the ÖBONÄS wall shelf magnetically mountable. I opted for this solution because magnets with an M8 outer thread are considerably more expensive than M6 variants.

What you need to magnetize a wall shelf:

  • 2x ÖBONÄS 3D-printed Adapters 🖨️
  • 2x Ø 43mm Magnets with M6 outer thread studs 🧲
  • 2x Threaded adapter / Reducing thread from M8 to M6 🔩

I hope you find the adapter as useful as I do. Let me know what you’ve created with it! 😊
