Description

*** Adjustable version available here.***

This is a very easy-to-print spool holder for the Bambu Lab A1 mini 3d printer ( no AMS ). The low friction and wider tube improve the stability of the spool and eliminate drag from the original spool holder.

Parts needed:

1) 3d printed Main Tube

16) 3d printed Bearings ( print x16 if printing STL file )

Please review the pictures for easier installation:

For easier installation, remove the original spool holder. Place the main tube on its side with the wider taper on top, insert the original spool holder halfway into the main tube, and add eight cylinder bearings. Once the cylinder bearings are in place, slide the original spool holder and main tube together and hold them in a horizontal position with the bearing slot on the main tube facing up. Now insert the remaining cylinder bearings in the slot and slide them into the track ( bearings can only slide in one direction ). The main tube should spin freely with one to two millimeters of play throughout. The last step is to mount the entire assembly on your A1 mini and enjoy your low-friction spool holder.

Please post your makes. Enjoy

Update: 07.24.24

Added  STL file “A1 mini spool holder main tube extended.stl”. This extended main tube will accommodate spools up to 80mm wide.
