Parametric Customizable Voronoi Photo / Picture Frame
Overview
This parametric 3D photo frame can host any picture size and includes several parts: the frame with a Voronoi pattern and solid margins, a back plate, a spring clip, and optional stands. The frame can be either desk-mounted using built-in or standalone stands, or wall-mounted with a notch for hanging, or magnetically mounted (e.g. fridge). The design is customizable through a range of parameters.
Update (Aug 2, 2024) : Added support for mounting using magnets.

Assembly Instructions
- Place the photo, including any additional material like a front transparent protector, into the frame.
- Position the back plate behind the photo.
- Attach the spring clip, ensuring the protrusions fit into the notches inside the frame to secure it in place. See included photos for placement of the spring clip, it may be counter intuitive at first!
Printing Instructions
- Load the generated STL into your slicer software.
- If larger than a single bed plate, split the STL into individual objects and arrange them onto several build plates as needed.
- No supports are required for printing this model.
- Depending on the frame size, bed type, and material, brims may be required to ensure better adhesion to the print bed.
Parameters
Main Dimensions
- photo_width: Width of the photo to be framed. Set it a bit larger than the physical photo width to account for filament shrinkage.
- photo_height: Height of the photo to be framed. Set it a bit larger than the physical photo height to account for filament shrinkage.
- frame_width: Overall width of the frame.
frame_height: Overall height of the frame.
- outer_margins_width: Width of the solid outer margins around the frame.
- outer_margins_height: Height of the solid outer margins around the frame.
- inner_margins_width: Width of the inner margins around the photo area.
inner_margins_height: Height of the inner margins around the photo area.
- frame_contents_thickness: Thickness of the content (photo and any protector) inside the frame.
- frame_thickness: Total thickness of the frame.
photo_support_thickness: Thickness of the support area that holds the photo in place.
- corners_rounding: Rounding radius for the corners of the frame.
front_rounding: Rounding radius for the front edges of the frame.
- clearance: Clearance space around the photo and backing components.
Stand
- stand_style: Type of stand (built-in or separate).
- stand_angle: Angle at which the frame stands.
- stand_feet_width: Width of the stand's feet.
- stand_supports_thickness: Thickness of the supports for the separate stand.
- stand_frame_bottom_height: Height from the bottom of the frame whith the separate stand support.
Mounting Hole
- cut_mounting_hole: Boolean to determine if a mounting hole should be included.
- mounting_hole_diameter: Diameter of the underlying mounting hole, effectibely the diameter of the screw head.
- mounting_hole_depth: Depth of the mounting hole.
- mounting_hole_opening: Diameter of the opening hole for screw, effectively diameter of screw.
- mounting_hole_top_thickness: Thickness at the top of the mounting hole.
- mounting_hole_back_thickness: Thickness at the back of the mounting hole.
Mounting Magnets
- cut_magnet_holes: Boolean to determine if a mounting hole should be included.
- magnet_hole_diameter: Diameter of the holes for magnets, usually 0.1mm larger than magnet diameter for push fit.
- magnet_hole_depth: Depth of the magnets holes, usually 0.1mm larger than magnet thickness.
Voronoi Pattern
- voronoi_dist_size: Size of the voronoi pattern cells.
- voronoi_thickness: Thickness of the voronoi pattern visible lines.
- voronoi_rounding: Rounding of the corners of the voronoi shapes.
- voronoi_seed: Seed value for generating the voronoi pattern. 0 will generate a random pattern every time, but not repeatable.
Back
- back_plate_thickness: Thickness of the back plate.
- spring_clip_press_thickness: Thickness of the part of the spring clip that presses against the back plate.
- spring_clip_stress_factor: Factor to adjust the stress on the spring clip for better fit.
- spring_clip_flex_thickness: Thickness of the flexible part of the spring clip.
Advanced
- support_frame_thickness: Thickness of the support frame inside the main frame.
- notch_width: Width of the notches inside the frame for the spring clip.
- notch_height: Height of the notches inside the frame for the spring clip.
- notch_offset: Offset of the notches from the edges of the frame.
- notch_placements: Positions of the notches along the frame.
- clip_release_recess_placements: Positions of the recesses for releasing the spring clip.
- clip_release_recess_width: Width of the recesses for releasing the spring clip.
- clip_release_recess_depth: Depth of the recesses for releasing the spring clip.
