Description

Another useful tool

 

UPDATE: I have used these on 10 brake jobs so far and even left them clamped overnight due to a ball joint nut that needed to be cut off because it was corroded onto the ball joint stud. Went to the dealer to get a replacement nut the next day and when I finished installing everything the brake caliper went on smoothly without the need to press in the piston at all. The interlocking design as well as the hardware center really make these pliers just as good as pliers I could have purchased at a local store. If you assembled your print as described in the description and you have had a similar experience, please help me out by sharing, commenting, uploading a photo and/or boosting to help others out. I printed 12 protoypes of these pliers before posting them to make sure they are Grade A quality last a very long time. I do this with all of my uploaded models, so feel free to check out my other prints if you're curious.

(1EA) M3 threaded insert

 

(1EA) M3x12 Countersunk hex screw

Instructions: (just to make it easier)

 

 

Install the insert using a soldering iron from the inside of the pliers on the appropriate blind hole as shown in the picture.

 

It is a good idea to thread the countersunk screw through the countersunk hole before moving on, to make it easier to install later.

 

*Remove the screw completely once you've threaded the screw at least once.

 

Place the pliers facing each other and align them so that the holes line up and the handles are somewhat closed. Press them together.

 

*This will be a tight fit due to the need for the close tolerance fitment.

 

Slide the locking ring over the jaws and pivot point until it reaches the divots in the handles.

 

Now just install the countersunk hex screw and enjoy your new brake hose line pliers!
