Description

As I am running out of space on my Skadis wall, I needed a new approach to attach more accessories. To use the space more efficiently, I created a basic container with integrated Skadis holes, allowing additional accessories to be attached, thereby freeing up space on the board itself. The inner dimensions are approximately 100x80x80mm (WxDxH), and there are two variants: one with a four-way divider and one without. If you have suggestions for alternative dimensions, please let me know in the comments. The container is very sturdy, adhering to the original board's design specifications with a thickness of approximately 5mm.

Installation

The container can be mounted on the Skadis board like any other accessory. For a more permanent installation, I recommend using my Double Lock plug (in 9.5 or 10mm) to prevent the container from detaching accidentally.

If possible, attach any additional accessories before mounting the container to the Skadis board to avoid unnecessary stress on the hooks. Note that the layer lines of the container create more friction than the original IKEA Skadis boards, making it a bit harder to mount and unmount accessories.

handy design, maybe a slightly taller one would be great too.

Replying to @AU3D :
Nothing specific, but maybe just one row of 'skadis holes' higher :)

a bit hard to push in the skadis slots, but it also gives some confidence against seeing it sliding out by accident. a very nice print, and a good addition for my “wall of shame” 😁

The hooks are 2 tenths too wide. Can be solved with sanding. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻

Have you measured the corresponding width? My hooks are 4.7 mm wide at their widest point in the model and should therefore easily fit through the 5 mm wide Skadis opening.

Great finish (Bambulab Matte White PLA, "silent" / 50% speed). Perfect size to store hardware store sanding sponges.

Great idea and great print! Perfect for holders that need lots of vertical room above them like the angle finder holder. Thank you for all your skadis models!

Prints well but I have a few problems. First if there wouldn't be the center hook but just 4 hooks on the back, I could hang it between two Skadis plates or on the bottom edge of one. Also, the thickness is exactly 5mm, whereas the Skadis has ~5,15mm. This results in all extension being without any friction fit (see gap in photo), leaving a possibility to take off holders too when grabbing the tools on them.

@ArCy First off, thank you for your feedback. I'm happy to address your points as follows: I'm glad to hear that you had no issues printing this model. Please note that your rating should reflect the print profile rather than the model itself. I agree that the delta hook might limit the options slightly. However, since I'm unsure about the load placed on the container, I wanted to add extra stability. It's much easier to remove the hook yourself than to add one later. In Bambu Studio, it's a simple process: - Select the container. - Click "Split to Parts". - In the objects list, select the hook you want to remove (e.g., ....stl_3). - Press "Delete" to remove the part/hook. - Done! I will see if I can adjust my approach in the future to cover more scenarios. Regarding the thickness, Skadis boards do not have a uniform thickness; they vary between 4.8 and 5.1mm depending on the model (black, white, natural, painted, or unpainted). It seems you are using the white board, which is the thickest variant. Even the creator of the T-Clip system, which you use for your attachments, mentions the need for different clips based on board thickness. Given this variability, if the pliers holder shown in your image sits loose on this container, it would likely sit loose on black and natural boards as well (~4.8mm). This is an issue that can only be resolved by the attachment's creator. As for the friction of attachments, it's important to note that there is no standard for the hooks, so stating that "all" attachments won't have any friction seems a bit odd to me. I can guarantee that all my 200+ Skadis models have plenty of friction with this container. And for the ones I have no control over, I created the Skadis Lock Plug (https://makerworld.com/en/models/92747) and the Double Lock Plug (https://makerworld.com/en/models/505811).
