Description

Hello! I put together a collection of Bug-A-Salt 3.0 mods that I used to create my home made “A Salt Weapon”. All of the models were created by others, I modified some of them to fit better and to increase the strength. I'm using heavy duty zip ties for the buffer tube/stock mount. I would recommend getting a zip tie tensioner/cutter so you can really tighten them up for zero play. This design is a bit more robust than using traditional hardware and allows for some flex before breaking. I would also recommend using some kind of PLA Pro or PLA+ but I have had success with gold silk PLA as well.

Assembly:

you will need (4) small screws. (2) will hold on the 3-side Picatinny Muzzle and (2) will be used to secure the forward grip halves together. I recommend clamping the forward grip together while you screw it to get a tight fit.

Use some small dabs of super glue to hold the flash hider to the 3-side Picatinny Muzzle. It will slot onto the bug-a-salt barrel for proper orientation.

for the stock/buffer tube mount, loop the zip tie around the forward most set of holes as shown in the picture, get it hand tight then loop the rear zip tie in. Use the head of another zip tie to attach it to the rear zip tie tail and tighten with the zip tie tensioner and cut off the tail. Then tighten the forward zip tie loop and cut off the tail.

No fly is safe.

Is there a fully 3D printed Bug-A-Salt out there anywhere? Thanks

probably not as the compression part of these toys would bust apart eventually. they also use soft rubber and springs internally. and at that point the toy its self is pretty cheap. there are homemade bug salt guns that can be 3d printed not sure how good they are

Thanks for the info. I'll see what I can find :)

there are numerous high powered foam dart blasters that could probably be modded to sling salt, but you'd have to be pretty savvy at remixing things to get something that isn't sort of jank.

not sure why but a tree support grew out of the stock end plate. 🤔

That happened to me, too. I had to separate them out onto their own plates.

hello, love the strength and design of this print… I notice the center piece of the stock mount doesn’t have holes large enough for heavy duty zip ties, only the small ones. Did I miss something in the print profile?

Disregard! My A1 was busy so I printed this on the mini, not realizing it was outside the dimensions of the print bed. I’ll reprint it as-is in the profile on my A1. thanks!

Really nice print. The variable layer + fresh roll of PETG-HF from Bambu did the trick. I used it for the bug-a-salt rifle :)

this thing printed out great, I had to separate the stock from the pad (otherwise support placement issue) other than that it turned out great
