Description

The Gear Generator is a script helping to create customisable gears using Bambu Parametric Model Maker, a powerful 3D CAD modelling tool. This script allows users to generate gears with various parameters, making it a versatile tool for designers, engineers, and hobbyists.

Features:

Customisation Parameters:

  • Number of Teeth: Adjust the number of teeth on the gear to fit your specific design needs.
  • Gear Thickness: Specify the thickness of the gear to ensure it meets structural requirements.
  • Gear Radius: Define the radius of the gear for precise sizing.
  • Hub Diameter: Set the diameter of the central hub to match the shaft it will be mounted on.
  • Hole Diameter: Determine the diameter of the central hole to fit various mounting requirements.
  • Gear Inner Hole Diameter: A new parameter allowing customisation of the inner hole diameter.
  • Helix Angle: Adjust the helix angle for creating helical gears or set to 0 for straight teeth gears.

Modular Design: The script is built with modular functions, such as the gear and tooth modules, making it easy to modify and extend for different types of gears and configurations.

Easy Integration: The gear generator can be integrated into larger designs or used as a standalone component in various mechanical and engineering projects.

Printing recommendations:

Material:

PLA : Good for prototypes and low-stress applications. Easy to print with minimal warping.
PETG: Offers a good balance of strength and flexibility. Resistant to wear and impact.
ABS/ASA: Ideal for high-stress applications due to its durability and wear resistance.

Layer Height:

0.2 mm for a balance of detail and print speed.

Infill Density - depend where and how gears will be used for

20-40%: For a good balance between strength and material usage.
50-100%: For gears that will be under high stress or load.

Infill Pattern:

Grid, Triangular or cross hatch: These patterns provide good strength and support for functional gears.

Wall Thickness:

1.2 mm (3 perimeters): Ensures strong and durable gear teeth.

Top/Bottom Layers:

4-6 layers: Ensures a solid top and bottom surface, preventing weak spots.
