Description

Spool Arm for side mounting the original spool holder

It is designed to screw directly into the left support beam of the printer, for extra stability - other spool holders that float right next to the printer tend to sag quite a bit

BOM

Printing

i recommend 6 to 8 wall loops and a good amount of infill 30 to 40 % should do

if you don't have any enclosure, you want to print the 5,5 mm spacer, with an enclosure with 3 mm wall thickness, you'll need the 2,5 mm spacer - measure and adjust for the actual size

Assembly

  1. Remove the original holder and save the screws
  2. Screw in the spool arm in the back with 2 M3 x 8 Screws in the holes, where the original holder was mounted
  3. put the M3x12 screw through the center hole and the spacer around and screw it into the left beam - the hole there is not tapped, so a firm press and slow, straigt and steady will cut threads into the thin metal beam (you also can use a tap, if you have one)
  4. mount the spool holder with the 2 original screws to the arm

Notes

The radius of the arm matches modplates with a maximum thickness of 3 mm - if you have thinner pieces, it might leave a small gap or might not fit at all on thicker pieces

the gap between the outside edge of your enclosure and the left beam of the printer frame should measure 5,5 mm (the provided spacer distance)

if you're looking for a matching enclosure, the Minimal Enclosure fits perfectly

if you want to utilize it the for the P1S, use a generous amount of infill - if you want to prevent sagging, you need to drill a small hole into the sidepanel to mount it into the frame

Changelog

  • v18: the mount for the original spool holder has a second surplus counterbore which helps, when you want to mount it upside down (for the spool roller for example)
