Description

Since Bambu Labs AMS doesnt like cardboard filament and will cause it to break over time, This Rim cover will make it smooth and very simple to put on. Snap on, should be a tight fit , meant for 198mm spools but if the cardboard is slightly bigger just scale in the slicer by .5 for every 1mm larger, very simple and easy to use. Infill doesnt matter its very thin so it saves on filament and time. Only takes 9 minutes to print not including set up time.

I added different sizes so no need to scale in the print profiles! If you guys can help me fill this out that would be awesome

Now, I just got two rolls that look like this. I was reading that the newer rolls (of which I think this style is) do not really need the covers for the spool to still roll smoothly in an AMS (w/ Bambu P1S for me). Just wondering if you made these cause you felt you needed them for it to roll smoothly after using some of these cardboard spools, or did you just make it kind of for fun? Although, for me, when I make a spool, I usually print it with the color of the roll, just kind of for the fun of it. And I see you haven't done that, but that might just be my thing. It's not quite the same effort to make these of the same color as it is if you get a Bambu refill and then have to swap it onto the one you print from the refill you just got. I digress, but I was wondering if you have found with this type of carboard spool if you really need it or just like to make these.....

I printed the 199mm for my esun spool's but the sides aren't the same size. It fits the front side fine but the other side is too loose. I put 4 notches on the ring as these should dig into the cardboard spool if it's too big and fit perfectly if a bit smaller. I also printed it in PETG so if the spools bigger and I have to force it on, it's less likely to break. Printing now.

Now both sides fit tightly. The notch digs in on the large side and doesn't leave a mark on the small side.
