This smart filament samples are designed with an integrated NFC chip for storing information about the filament.

Features

  • Thin walls test (3, 2, 1.5, 1mm)
  • Material type display (Currently PLA, PETG, TPU, ASA, ABS and a blank version are available)
  • Hole for a key ring
  • Thickness/shine through test (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2mm)
  • Round holes (2, 3, 4, 5mm diameter)
  • Layer visibility test
  • Integrated NFC chip for storing information about the filament

Recommended print settings

  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Sparse infill pattern: Cubic
  • Sparse infill density: 25%
  • The sum of top and bottom shell layers should be at least 6
  • No supports needed

Printing and Assembly

  • You will need some NFC chips in the right size. For enough storage space, I do recommend those NFC chips (affiliate link)
  • Optionally, you can add some sort of key chain in the top right corner (I recommend this chain (affiliate link))
  • When preparing the print, make sure to insert a pause before the space for the NFC chip (when printing at 0.2mm layer height as recommended, the pause should be right before layer 12)
  • When the printer pauses, insert an NFC tag
  • After printing, you can optionally add some sort of key chain in the top right corner of the sample
  • Use the app “NFCTools” to write your filament data to the NFC chip (add your parameters or just a link to the website)
  • When having many samples, you might want to also consider to print my box for them (linked at the top of the description)
