Description

I've tried about a half-dozen different wipers, and they all had pros and cons. This one combines several features found in other designs but has been redesigned from scratch in CAD.

  • This design uses an ~11mm cutting from an A1 nozzle wiper. (The wiper's adhesive backing should be fine, but add a dab of super glue if you want it to stay for good!
  • The extra wiper is positioned to the right of the stock X1C nozzle wiper, which remains in its usual place. Get the benefits of both wipers!
Placing it to the right won't be in the way when the nozzle comes to rest before and after the first layer inspection and during filament changes. This means there shouldn't be any build-up of purged filament getting stuck between the stock wiper and the additional A1 wiper, as is the case in versions where the extra wiper is placed to the left.
  • This design has a lot of inherent stability by filling the full purge chute area. I've added an optional screw hole on the right side, for added stability. You can re-use the existing screw located in this position.
  • The extra nozzle wiper is well supported along the edge of the purge chute frame, making it unlikely to shift during prints.

I'm happy with how this turned out. I've successfully printed it with ABS, but I recommend a material that maintains rigidity at higher temperatures. I've also printed it with PET-CF, and it worked very well!

Enjoy!
