Description

Hello,

******* NEW PRINT PROFILE ADDED ********

March 3, 2025 -

A Print Profile has been added which HAS CUTOUTS FOR ATTACHING CABLES:

That Profile Includes cutouts to allow for SATA Data and Power connectors.  This is for those users who want to use this as an external HDD housing with connectors.  This works with right angle connectors too.

****************************************

The other original print profiles do not have the DATA or POWER cable cutouts.

I took BinchePone's 3.5" HDD Storage Model, resized and gave it a lid and organized Letter impression tags, so that I can store my 20+ 3.5" HDDs in an efficient and easy to access manner.

I rotate through external drives in my Veeam Backup Repository server with hotswap HDD caddys. I have a log sheet to keep track of these HDDs and what is backed up onto them. I wanted to keep the HDDs easier to manage, carry around office and transport offsite. Then I found BinchePone's model and I remixed it for my use.

I printed these using two different PLA Black filaments, and so they have slight difference of sheen and appearance in photos.

Thank you,

BennyBoots

It turned out perfect The blue is Silk and suits it very well Maybe I will add a couple of hinges although with the HDDs it doesn't need them Now I have to see how to connect them all

hello. i like that idea and i think I'll see about adding that. In the meantime, please check the lid in this print model for the purpose you describe. Being shorter in height it allows for the sata power and data ports. there is a lid with letter tags and another without the letter tags.

yeah, I am indeed using the lid now. it is just that my expectation was different then the way it turned out ;) Thanks though!

it's a great idea and I have a new profile I'll upload tomorrow with openings for data and power cables. I've a prototype I'm printing now. it's a work in progress though because i want to allow for right angle cables, right now the prototype only handle straight connectors.

its good but could make the areas bigger for sata and power for some users that can only use external adapters that are different sizes but otherwise it’s perfect

hello, I hope to find time in coming weeks to perhaps make the adjustments but until then, if you like, the negative modifiers are visible within the slicer and you could adjust their sizes to make larger openings for the external SATA connectors.

Very nice model! Came out well and exactly what I was after. Lid part is a little tight for some reason.
