VW Golf 6 RCD 330/880 Flip Badge Camera Adapter

VW Golf Mk6 Flip Badge Camera Adapter (RNS 510 → RCD 330/880 Pro)

After upgrading my Golf from the original RNS 510 to an RCD 330/880 Pro, I found out the factory reverse camera wasn't compatible anymore. Most people seem to solve this with converter boxes, delay modules, and a bunch of extra wiring, but I wanted something a bit cleaner.

So I took apart the original flip badge camera, ordered a cheap CVBS camera from AliExpress, and designed this mount so the new camera fits inside the factory housing. That way you keep the OEM flip badge mechanism, get a much better image, and avoid all the extra electronics.

I've been running it on my 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35, and it's been working great.

Compatibility

This adapter is designed for the factory VW flip badge reverse camera with OEM camera module:

• 5K0 980 551

It mounts to the original camera carrier:

• 5K0 827 469 A0

It was designed and tested on my 2012 Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 35 that originally came with the RNS 510, but it should also work on other Golf Mk6 models using the same flip badge camera assembly. See the last few images for examples of OEM cameras that this adapter will replace. If yours looks like mine (last few pictures), it should fit perfectly in the housing.

Make sure you order the CVBS version. The AHD version will not work with the RCD 330/880 Pro.

Installation

1. Unscrew the flip motor from the flip badge. You don't have to remove the entire flip badge from the trunk, only the motor assembly. 
2. Open up the factory flip badge camera housing
3. Remove the original camera module
4. Install the new camera using this mount
5. Put everything back together.

Notes

• This only replaces the camera module. The original flip badge housing and mechanism are reused.
• The STL is oriented and ready to print.
