⚠️ Read this first
This looks like an easy 15-minute print, and it is, but only if you have the right plate, spotlessly clean (and/or with glue), and you use my included print profile / tuning.
The working spring gate is print-in-place, which means the first layer has small separated segments. If the plate isn't clean, or the settings are off, those little segments lift or get dragged before they bond, and the gate fails. PETG is the fussy one. Follow the profile and a clean prep, and it genuinely comes off the plate in ~15 minutes with a working snap.
❌ Do NOT use a textured plate
Use a smooth / engineering PEI plate (clean; glue stick for PETG). Avoid textured plates for this model.
Why: a textured plate grips by keying the plastic into its rough surface, which needs a decent footprint. The gate's fine first-layer details sit in tiny separate islands with almost no footprint, so on a textured surface they can't key in evenly and get knocked loose before they bond. A smooth plate gives full flat contact (plus glue when needed), which is what those small features need to survive layer one.
What it is
A classic carabiner with a working print-in-place snap gate. Prints in one piece, no assembly, no hardware, no spring to add. Just a satisfying snap.
Honest use
An everyday clip: keys, bags, pouches, gear organization, zipper pulls.
Not rated safety equipment. Never use it for climbing, fall protection, or holding people or heavy loads. In my own testing the gate stayed shut and popped open at no less than 10 kg (twice in a row), so it holds a fair bit for a printed clip, but treat that as "don't hang off it," not a load rating.
Pairs with
My Rope Ratchet Tensioner: clip it on, tension your line.
