Shukhov-Style Hyperboloid Lattice Tower
Print Profile(1)

Description
A 3D-printable hyperboloid lattice tower inspired by the engineering structures of Vladimir Shukhov.
The model features a continuous double lattice structure with horizontal reinforcement rings and is designed specifically for FDM printing.
The geometry was generated parametrically using a custom Python script rather than modeled manually. Beam thickness, tower proportions and overall dimensions were adjusted to produce a reliable print while preserving the characteristic appearance of a hyperboloid lattice structure.
Model details:
• Designed for FDM printing
• No supports required
• Approximately 170 mm tall
• Printed successfully on a Bambu Lab A1 Mini
• 0.4 mm nozzle compatible
• Parametrically generated geometry
This is not an exact scale replica of a specific Shukhov tower. It is a printable interpretation inspired by Shukhov's hyperboloid structures.
The model can be scaled, but significant downscaling may make the lattice beams too thin for reliable printing.
About the model
I originally tried generating this structure using image-to-3D tools, but the complex overlapping lattice geometry proved difficult to reconstruct correctly from photographs. I eventually created a custom Python generator to build the tower mathematically and iterated on the proportions and beam thickness until the model printed reliably on an FDM printer.
