Description

Slim, strong cable hook — engineered, not blobby

A wall hook for hanging coiled XLR, instrument, IEC and extension cables. The arm is thin enough to slip through a rolled hank, the turned-up lip keeps coils on, and it comes in four lengths — from a 2-coil desk hook to a 5-coil studio rail.

It's designed as a proper cantilever bracket:

  • Beam of uniform strength — deep gusseted root tapering to a slim tip, because the bending load is highest at the wall and near-zero at the end. Material sits where the stress is.
  • Neutral-axis lightening holes — bending stress is ~zero through the middle of a beam, so that dead core is removed: better strength-to-weight, and it looks the part.
  • Filleted root, no sharp notch — kills the stress riser where brackets normally crack.
  • Printed on its side so the layer lines run along the load — it uses the strong in-layer direction, not the weak inter-layer bond. Flat back, supportless, eased top edge so cables don't chafe.
  • Wide screw couple — two stacked countersunk screws; the spacing is maxed so the top screw (which takes the pull-out load) stays lightly loaded.

Four sizes

  • S — ~2 coils, 120 × 94 mm footprint
  • M — ~3 coils, 175 × 117 mm
  • L — ~4 coils, 220 × 128 mm
  • XL — ~5 coils, 237 × 139 mm (sized to fit the Bambu P1S 256 bed)

Printing

Profiles included: 0.20 mm, 4 walls, 5 top shells, 30% gyroid, no supports — strength comes from perimeters, not bulk. Flat back on the plate, big bed-contact area, no brim needed. PLA is fine; use PETG for the production hook (less creep under sustained load). Mount with two #8/#10 wood screws into studs or drywall anchors — countersinks are sized for flat heads.

Studios, live rigs, garages, grip carts. Print one per cable type and label them.
