Description

Turn the cold-air outlet of a portable air conditioner into ducted output and send the cold air where you actually want it. This is a parametric reducer that clips onto the AC's top vent and feeds 80 mm flexible ducting, so you can carry cooling into another room — or split it across several.

Originally designed for the Kinzo 9000 BTU portable AC sold at Action, but it's fully parametric: measure your unit's outlet, adjust a couple of values, and it fits virtually any portable AC.

Configurable options (in the .scad, or via the customizer):

  • Number of outlets: 1, 2 or 3 — one central outlet on top, plus up to two side outlets that exit perpendicular to the funnel faces (angled ~45°), so they stay nearly support-free and route tubes neatly up-and-out.
  • Outlet opening size (width × depth) and fit mode — "over" to wrap a raised lip, or "into" to seat inside the opening.
  • Tube diameter (default 80 mm slip-fit), skirt height, funnel height and wall thickness.

Printing

  • Material: ASA or PETG. PETG is the easy mode on the wide base; ASA is great in an enclosure.
  • Orientation: flange down, outlets up — no internal supports needed (funnel sits around 44°).
  • Add a 5–8 mm brim: the part contacts the bed on a thin perimeter ring, so a brim prevents corner lift on the ~256 mm footprint.
  • 3+ perimeters and 3 mm walls give an airtight, rigid part.

Assembly

  • Slide 80 mm flexible duct over each spigot and secure with a hose clamp. A foam/EPDM strip inside the skirt seals it against the AC outlet.

Good to know: a portable AC has limited fan pressure, so keep ducts short and with few bends; splitting one unit across several rooms gives modest per-room cooling. It works best for pushing cold air into one adjacent room, with the extra outlets as a flexible option.
