Description

Rolling Croc - Interactive Mechanical Pull Toy

Meet Rolling Croc, a dapper gentleman alligator wearing a stylish top hat! This interactive pull toy features a clever mechanical system: as you pull or push him forward, his jaws realistically open and close (chomping action!). It's the perfect functional filament project for kids, desk toy collectors, or as a unique 3D printed gift.

Key Features:

  • Layer Height: If you are looking for better quality, I suggest adjusting the layer heights. In the print profile, use 0.1mm for the head and 0.12mm for the rest of the model. Keep in mind that this will increase print times, especially when using an AMS profile.
  • Interactive Mechanism: No batteries required! Pure kinetic movement driven by the wheels.
  • Dapper Design: High-detail cartoon aesthetic featuring a unique top hat.
  • Optimized for 3D Printing: Designed to prevent failing during print and easy to assemble.

Printing & Assembly Parameters:

  • Supports: The body and wheels do not need supports. However, supports are required for the head and top hat.
  • Infill: In my print profile, you will notice that the wheels and top hat are set to 100% infill. This is absolutely critical, as the weight distribution ensures the friction for the pull action and the jaw movement function properly.
  • Additional Parts: Requires a string or cord for the pull toy action.

Notes:

  • I personally preferred to print it in a single color and paint it afterward. Please understand me—my kids had absolutely no patience and wanted to play with it as soon as possible!
  • You can scale it up and print it larger if you wish, but keep in mind that you will need to use glue on the joints (axle, head, and top hat).
