Description

🦟 Sticky Card Mosquito Trap

📋 Overview

This mosquito trap is designed to attract and capture female mosquitoes searching for a location to lay their eggs. The trap uses a sticky card and an organic water mixture to lure mosquitoes before they can reproduce.

Unlike traditional mosquito traps, this design specifically targets females looking for breeding sites, helping reduce future mosquito populations around your home or garden.

📦 Required Materials

🪤 Sticky insect card (approximately 80 × 140 mm)

💧 Water

🍂 Dead leaves, grass clippings, dirt, or other organic matter

🔧 Design Features

✅ Easy to assemble and install

💧 Designed to hold an attractant water mixture

🖨️ No supports required

🌧️ Overflow holes prevent water from reaching levels that could become accessible for mosquito breeding

🪤 Replaceable sticky card system

🌡️ Suitable for outdoor use when printed in weather-resistant materials

🖨️ Printing Recommendations

PETG is recommended for outdoor durability and weather resistance.

For best results:

• Print the top cover and grid in translucent PETG.

• The included print profiles are optimized to provide some translucency without significantly increasing print time.

• If you want greater transparency, reduce print speeds to around 20 mm/s as described here:

The remaining parts should be printed in black or another dark color, as darker surfaces help attract mosquitoes into the trap.

💡 How to Use

  1. Assemble the trap.
  2. Place it in a shaded location away from direct sunlight.
  3. Fill the lower container with water.
  4. Add dirt, dead leaves, grass clippings, or other organic material.
  5. Slide a sticky card in the holder.

As the organic material decomposes, it creates an environment that attracts female mosquitoes looking for a place to lay their eggs. Once inside, the mosquitoes become trapped on the adhesive card.

⚠️ Notes

• Check and replace sticky cards as needed (I replace mine every 2weeks).

• Check the water level

• While this trap primarily attracts mosquitoes, it is not species-selective and may occasionally capture other insects.

• From my experience, it attracts significantly more mosquitoes than other insects.

Happy mosquito hunting! 🦟
