30mm Rear Fan Mount & Pod Brace (Angled & Straight) for Schumacher Eclipse 4 / 5 / 6
Maximize motor cooling and clean up your rear pod layout with these integrated 30mm fan mounts, tailored specifically for the Schumacher Eclipse 4, 5, and 6 1/12th scale pan car platforms. They may fit X-Ray and others.
Mounted off the pod (unsprung weight) - not the chassis
This download includes two distinct versions depending on your preferred fan layout and wiring preferences:
- Angled Version: As seen in 20260618_190244.jpg, this version positions the fan at an inward angle to blow high-velocity air straight through the stator openings and endbell. It also provides slightly more prtection to the blades from a rear bump by a competitor
- Straight Version: As shown in 20251118_230754 (1).jpg, this version mounts the fan completely square and parallel to the pod, offering a traditional configuration and a distinct clearance profile.
- A Fan guard is included to protect your fan blades in a rear collision, and the Marshalls fingers!
By bridging the left and right side bulkheads, both designs double as a rigid, lightweight structural brace for the rear pod.
⚙️ Features
- Dual Functionality: Serves as both a structural rear pod brace and a 30mm fan mount.
- Spring Tuning Relief: Features a built-in relief cutout on the brace arm (clearly visible in 20251118_230754 (1).jpg). This allows easy, unhindered tool access for adjusting your rear spring without needing to unbolt the fan mount.
- Low-Profile Clearance: As demonstrated in 20260618_190237.jpg, the mount keeps the fan low to clear standard 1/12th body shells, maintains excellent tire clearance, and ensures zero interference with the rear axle or spur gear assembly.
- Thermal Efficiency: Keeps motor temperatures in check to eliminate fade during hot 8-minute main events.
- Wire Management Ready: Orient the fan to cleanly route fan wires away from spinning parts (see 20260618_190251.jpg).

🛠️ Recommended Print Settings
- Material: PLA+, CF-PLA, HT-PLA derivatives, or PETG are all perfectly fine to use.
- Infill: 100% solid infill.
- Walls/Perimeters: 3 to 4 walls for maximum strength.
- Orientations & Supports:
- Straight Version: Prints completely flat on the build plate. No supports needed.
- Angled Version: Print on the leading edge face. Requires light supports.
- Grill: Print flat on the bed.
🔩 Hardware Needed
- To Bulkheads: You will need 3mm x 4mm screws to replace the original 3mm x 2.5mm hardware on the car.
- To Fan & Grill: (X2) 3mm x 12/14 standard M3 screws (length depending on your fan thickness; usually 12mm–18mm button head screws work perfectly to go through the grill, fan, and into the mount). I did not use brass inserts to save weight - I just use progressively longer 3mm screws - the hole is deep!
- Dont cheap out and forget the fan guard - the open rear fo the pan car puts the fan in harms way!
