3D Printed Tongue Drum

This Tongue Drum is based on a wooden version I built years ago. Since it was always fun to play, I thought it would make an interesting 3D printing project that combines creativity, sound, and a bit of musical experimentation.

While the notes aren't precisely tuned, the drum still produces a variety of pleasant tones and is surprisingly fun to play. It's a great desk toy, conversation piece, or gift for anyone who enjoys unique prints that do more than just sit on a shelf.

Included Versions

• Two-color version for a more striking appearance. 
• Single-color version for simpler printing and assembly. 

Included Accessories

A printable drum mallet can be found at (https://makerworld.com/en/models/2948404-round-drum-mallet-stick#profileId-3303135 ). However, I found that the eraser end of a wooden pencil actually produces an even better sound.

If you'd like to experiment with different sounds, inexpensive percussion mallets are also available from Amazon and work very well.

Printing Notes

• Prints easily with standard PLA. 
• The two-color version looks especially nice when printed with contrasting colors. 
• No special hardware is required.
