Crucial Printing & Material Guidelines:
To ensure your holder stands up to the punishing marine environment, please follow these guidelines strictly:
- Material: DO NOT USE PLA. PLA will rapidly warp, creep, and degrade under outdoor tension and sun exposure. Print exclusively in PETG (excellent UV and impact resistance) or ASA (ultimate weatherability).
- Color Selection (Pro Tip): Print in light colors (White, Light Grey, Cream, or High-Viz Yellow/Green). Light colors reflect sunlight, whereas dark colors/black absorb heat rapidly, raising the plastic’s internal temperature close to its softening point and causing structural failure under load.
Recommended Slicer Settings (For Maximum Strength):
Don't lose a fish because of a weak print! Use these robust structural settings:
- Wall Loops: 5 (Crucial for clamp strength and bolt torque resistance)
- Infill Density: 50 %
- Infill Pattern: Gyroid (Provides uniform multi-directional strength against twisting forces)
- Layer Height: 0.20mm
- Supports: Minimal supports are needed
Hardware Needed for Assembly:
- Bolts: 2x Marine Grade Stainless Steel Bolts M6 x 50mm.
- Nuts: Matching Nyloc (Nylon-insert locking) stainless steel nuts to prevent vibrations from loosening the mount while motoring.
- Tip: Wrap a 0.5mm layer of electrical tape or a thin strip of rubber around your 25mm metal railing prior to clamping to maximize grip friction and completely avoid scratching your polished stainless steel.
