Description

The Ripcord P-51 Mustang Spinner might be the most fun you can print under 25 grams of filament!

Inspired by my recent read of the book Fighter Group (Lt Col. Jay Stout, 2018), I wanted a George Preddy 352nd squadron P-51D of my own. Obviously the print time and airworthiness of a real PLA P-51 would be… questionable. So enjoy this little one I designed instead!

No AMS required. You can make one filament change as I have on several of the planes in the pics If you want multi-colored propellers (at layer 12, propeller only). I've also included a cloud shaped base if you want a stand and ripcord holder to rest it on.

Simple to print and assemble, it has 7 parts and they are press-fit. Here is a link to my handy video instructions if you would like to see me perform the steps.

Be sure to check out my new Ripcord P-40 Warhawk and Ripcord F4U Corsair if you like this print, they look great together!

Here are the instructions:

Install the hub through the engine cowling, into the propeller -

Install the exhaust manifolds into the engine cowling -

Install the support brick into the fuselage, and press the engine assembly into place until it is snug -

Make sure the propeller isn't too tight. Work the ripcord into place a few times, and ENJOY! It will actually spin longer and faster the more the parts wear in. I've got about 1000 pulls on my little squadron of these great fighters, and I still enjoy it every time.

Thank you for checking out my latest design. If you like my work I always appreciate a profile rating or a boost. Truth be told, I find a picture of my prints in the comments more rewarding than both of those, so please show me how yours came out!
