Chess Puzzles

Description
This is a small collection of 8 chess-based logic puzzles that I prepared as a printable set.
I really like these kinds of puzzles, but I didn’t want to print a completely separate set of chess pieces for every single board.
So I made the whole thing as one shared set: the pieces are reduced to the minimum amount needed to play all 8 puzzles.
You can print the boards and the shared pieces once, then reuse the same pieces from puzzle to puzzle.
For the chess pieces, I used this chess set model:
Chess Pieces
I also prepared a Notion page for the puzzles here: Puzzle Info
On that page I added my own difficulty rating for each puzzle, a short explanation,
and a setup image so it is easier to put the pieces in the correct starting position.
The 8 puzzles included are:
- Swapping Castles
- Black Knight
- Black Rook
- Pawn to Queen
- Four Pawns
- The Assassin
- Knight and Rook
- Four Caballeros
I separated the print plates by color, so you can just load the 3MF and print the parts color by color without having to manually sort everything.
For the board squares, especially the brown and light brown PLA wood parts, the fit is intentionally tight. I recommend using a small hammer or mallet to gently tap them into place. They are not really meant to be pushed in fully by hand. Once they are seated, the fit looks very clean.
For the labels, I used 12x40 mm label stickers, like the ones used with label makers such as the Phomemo D30 or NIIMBOT D11.
I personally use the Phomemo D30. I designed the labels directly in the phone app, so I can’t share the label design file, but it should be pretty easy to copy the layout from the photos or make your own version.
I made this mostly because I wanted a compact, reusable chess puzzle set that felt nice on the table and didn’t waste extra filament on duplicate pieces. Hope you enjoy printing and playing it.
