Description
After trying to cover the inlet of my SunSun 304A canister filter with a sponge, I found that it clogged quickly and the filter wasn't performing optimally. I then started looking for an alternative solution, and since I couldn't find a mesh cylinder locally, I made one myself from PETG — this is the result. It works perfectly and fits precisely. The smallest channel size is 0.8mm, so the tiniest shrimp could still be at risk, but I consider that risk acceptable.
The total opening area is 1100% larger than the inlet opening itself, so there is no restriction to the filter flow.
In my experience, after several weeks of use it doesn't clog, but it can always be cleaned or simply printed fresh. At the end of the day, it's only about 20 grams of filament.
For security reason I have printed it at 50% speed.
