Famous Sculptures in Chibi Platypus Version

FARNESIAN ATLAS

Welcome to a collection that's a bit absurd, a bit adorable, and, I hope, quite fun.

The idea for this project was born from a very simple question:

What if some of the most famous sculptures in art history had featured platypuses?

The result is this series of figures inspired by universally recognizable classical works, reinterpreted as small chibi platypuses, retaining the essence and pose of the original work, but adapted to more cartoonish, charming, and 3D printable proportions.

The Discobolus is an iconic Greek sculpture by sculpture in the round created by Myron from Eleutherae around 450 BC. It is framed at the beginning of the Greek Classical period, between the Archaic and the Classical.[1] The work depicts a young naked athlete in the moment before the throwing of a discus. It adheres to the aesthetic principles of the era, representing a great step forward towards naturalism, dynamism, serenity, balance, and a more complete anatomical study.

What makes this collection special?

My goal was not simply to put a platypus head on a human statue.

Each model has been redesigned so that:

  • The original work is immediately recognizable.

  • It maintains proportions close to those of a real platypus.

  • It has a chibi and collectible style.

  • It is FDM printable without unnecessary complications.

  • It works well in both small and display sizes.

I tried to move away from the typical "human body with an animal head" to create figures that truly look like platypuses performing great works of classical art.

Two versions included

Mini (approx. 1 hour print)

Designed for collecting.

  • Fast printing.

  • Low material consumption.

  • Ideal for creating a complete collection.

  • Perfect for gifts, swaps, or desk decoration.

Large Version

  • Higher level of detail.

  • Ideal for PLA Marble.

  • Perfect for shelves, display cases, or workspaces.

Designed for FDM printing

All models have been designed with the following in mind:

  • Easy printing.

  • Stability on the base.

  • Minimal use of supports when possible.

  • Details large enough to be preserved even at reduced sizes.

  • Good results with standard PLA and especially with PLA Marble.

The promotional photos are inspired by actual prints made with PLA Marble, a material that combines especially well with the theme of classical sculptures.

A growing collection

This collection has just begun.

Art history is full of incredible sculptures, and my intention is to continue expanding this collection with new additions whenever the community shows interest.

Among possible future additions, other classical works could appear, reinterpreted under the same philosophy:

adorable platypuses depicting legendary sculptures.

If you like the project...

  • Give it a 👍.

  • Share your prints.

  • Upload photos of your results.

  • Tell me which classical sculpture you would like to see transformed into a platypus.

Community suggestions will be one of the main sources of inspiration for future installments of the collection.

I hope these small reinterpretations achieve something that doesn't happen very often:

make 3D printing enthusiasts, collectors, and classical art lovers smile at the same time.

Happy printing
