Description

OVERWATCH ALPHA

Tabletop Gaming Asset

This is another custom designed model for use in BattleTech tabletop gaming.

It is designed with the intention of being used as an objective or stronghold, but can even be placed as terrain. It is modular so weapons can be swapped in or out, and can be used without the tower base/hangar for less height.

Weapons included are a missile turret and a ballistic dual cannon.  I am currently designing a laser turret as well.

 - ADDED A LASER CANNON TURRET (Sorry I couldn't get pictures of it with the rest of the model, but I had already handed over the finished parts to my friend so he could start painting) -

The tower is 20 cm tall including the weapon turrets (Optional), and can fit a lance of 4 Mechs inside the hangar (Optional).

Printing is straight forward, and some supports are needed for overhangs.

The top of the tower is split in half with a dowel to reduce support requirements.  You can use glue to permanently attach the parts, or leave them separate for more mobility.

The hex slots on the roof are 33 mm in size, and simply allow hex bases to drop in.

NOTES

  • The weapons systems have snap-fit pins (These can take some force to attach, but allow for a nice tight fit and full articulation without dropping out.)
  • I recommend painting the pieces prior to attaching as they will be difficult to remove after.
  • Tolerances for the joints are designed to be tight.  If they are too difficult, a very light sanding or a quick snip with cutters will allow for easier attachment.
  • The blast door hinges drop into the tower sockets, and allow for the doors to open and close. Depending on your filament, some cleaning/removal of material may be needed on the tower hinge brackets.

This project was a lot of fun to design, and I hope some people can get some use out of it.  As always, let me know of any issues or suggestions as I always appreciate feedback!
