📝 Model Description
Bring the iconic MINI style directly into your home with this elegant design valet tray display. Perfect for the entryway, desk, or a shelf, this model combines a passion for cars with the functionality of a practical everyday organizer: the deep black tray is ideal for holding keys, coins, or small items.
The project has been meticulously engineered to be multi-color printed without the need for an AMS system, by separating the components into different plates. This ensures exceptional print quality, reduces filament waste, and allows anyone to customize color combinations as desired!
🛠️ Printing Notes and Settings (Recommended)
- Adhesion and Thin Line Management: The MINI silhouette features many thin lines and detailed geometric vectors that require maximum stability on the first layer. To prevent any lines from detaching during printing and compromising the result, I printed everything on a Cold Plate carefully cleaned and degreased, applying a layer of hairspray to maximize adhesion.
- Warping Risk: To prevent warping problems on the longer and more geometric base parts, Brim was added to all objects. It is definitely preferable to dedicate an extra minute to post-processing with the certainty of obtaining a perfectly printed object!
- Supports: Not necessary.
- Material: PLA (excellent results with contrasting Black and White).
🧱 Organization of Print Plates
The project is divided into 2 Build Plates to optimize times and manual color changes:
- Plate 1 (Base/Structure Components - E.g., White):
- Front block (with recess for the logo).
- Rear block.
- 4 Chamfered joining pins.
- Plate 2 (Details and Tray - E.g., Black):
- Interlocking valet tray.
- MINI Cabrio Silhouette.
- Front MINI logo.
🪛 Step-by-Step Assembly Guide
- Component preparation: Carefully remove the brim from all pieces. Pay particular attention to the front MINI logo: clean it perfectly from brim residue, otherwise it will be difficult to fit into its interlocking seat.
- Base assembly: Take the 4 chamfered pins. If the fit is too tight due to printer tolerances, lightly sand them with a file or finish them with the tip of a pair of scissors. Insert the pins into the holes of the rear block and join it to the front block.
- Fitting the tray and silhouette: Insert the black tray into the white base. The MINI silhouette will fit securely into the structure.
- Finishing (Optional but Recommended): The design is engineered for mechanical interlocking without glue, but for a perfect and durable result, the use of a few drops of instant glue (like Super Glue) at the joint points is recommended.
- The touch of class for display: To improve the visibility of the object when placed on eye-level shelves, apply simple felt chair pads to the back of the base. This trick will slightly tilt the display forward, making the silhouette and contents of the valet tray much more visible and impactful!
