Description

MODYLO Column

I kept needing rods longer than my print bed, so I made one that splits itself up. Open the Customizer, set the total length you want, hit Generate - it works out how many segments you need and lays them out on the plate, ready to print. Screw them together afterwards.

Using the Customizer

One parameter: total length (the span between the two end caps, in mm). Everything else - segment count, individual lengths, the threaded joints - is handled for you. No CAD, no slicing math.

Printing

  • Segments print standing on the bed. Rod segments use the rim/brim at the base for stability so they don't topple mid-print - keep it. The end caps print flat and don't need it.
  • No supports. Threads print clean along the vertical axis.
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm · Walls: 2 · Infill: 10% gyroid · Rod diameter: 30 mm
  • Filament: Bambu Lab PLA Jade White
  • Customizer range: 100–3000 mm total length.

Heads-up on strength: printed upright, the rod holds up well in compression but is weaker in bending (layer lines run across that load). Ideal for rolling/storing fabric, light hanging, props - not for structural loads.

Assembly

Screw the segments together. Dry-fit if you want to re-adjust or reuse the length later. A drop of glue on the threads makes the joint permanent and noticeably stiffer - your call: dry = adjustable, glue = solid.

I made it to roll a tablecloth without creasing it, but it's just a clean rod in whatever length your bed won't give you on its own - curtain rod, banner pole, dowel, take your pick. Don't hurt people with it.
