Description

The "Taschen-Tausch-Station 3.0" ("Bag-Exchange-Station") is an open, 3D-printable and customizable station for shopping bags. The idea is simple: anyone who has too many clean bags at home can place them in the station. Anyone who spontaneously needs a bag can take one for free. This keeps bags in circulation for longer, saves resources and helps prevent waste.

Why is this exciting for makers?

For makers, the Bag Exchange Station is a concrete way to create real local impact with 3D printing. Individual printed parts become a visible reuse infrastructure for everyday life — in shops, libraries, schools, associations, municipalities, neighborhoods or public institutions. Makerspaces, FabLabs, repair cafés, open workshops and committed individuals can print station parts, support assembly, share knowledge and help people locally set up their own stations.

Open source: Rebuild, adapt, develop further

The Bag Exchange Station 3.0 is deliberately designed as an open system. You can not only print existing station parts, but also contribute your own ideas:

  • new holders
  • practical extensions
  • modular elements
  • improved mounting solutions
  • more accessible solutions
  • new versions for different locations

The community is explicitly invited to invent new station elements, test them and share them with others. This way, an open 3D printing project grows into a shared system for more reuse in everyday life.

Spread the idea

You do not have to set up a station yourself to become part of ReUseMe. Bring the idea to your city, your neighborhood or your community: tell other makerspaces, libraries, shops, schools, municipalities, repair cafés or reuse initiatives about the Bag Exchange Station. On our website, you will find social media templates, graphics, newsletter texts and print materials such as postcards and posters.

This way, you can help reach new station hosts, makers and reuse actors — and bring the idea step by step to more places.

Become part of the ReUseMe community

Register as a maker on the ReUseMe map so that station hosts can find you. This makes you a local matchmaker — connecting people who want to set up a station with those who can help make it happen.

Together, we bring more bags into circulation — and less single-use waste into everyday life.
