Description
Play Gym Height Extender & Riser (20cm / 8" Lift)
Does your baby still love their wooden play gym, but they're getting too tall? Or maybe you want to place a baby bouncer underneath it or hang a larger mobile into it? Babies grow fast, and the standard height of most wooden play gyms (like the Lovevery Play Gym) quickly becomes too low for sitting babies or bouncer seats. This sleek, custom-engineered riser elevates your play gym by exactly 200mm (about 8 inches), extending its life and usefulness!
✨ Key Features:
- Perfectly Angled Geometry: Designed with a precise ~19-degree slant. The wooden legs slide perfectly into the riser, and the riser sits dead flat on the floor. No wobbling, no awkward bending.
- The "Wedge Lock" System: No ugly zip-ties or velcro needed! The design includes a custom 3D-printed tapered wedge key. You slide the wooden leg into the pocket, line up the slots, and push the wedge through both the 3D-printed wall and the wooden leg. Since machining of the wooden original parts has tolerances, spacers / shims are included so It locks the leg in with a rigid, rattle-free fit.
- Optional TPU Base Plate and Original Mat Support: The risers feature a perfectly placed 35x6mm slot right at the bottom (20mm off the floor) to fit the optional TPU base plate so floors are protected and you can still strap the original play mat/blanket exactly as intended.
- Smart Hollow Design: Modeled as a uniform hollow tube from top to bottom. This saves massive amounts of filament and print time, while a solid 10mm internal "floor plug" safely supports the weight of the wooden legs.
📏 Compatibility:
Designed for wooden play gyms with rectangular legs measuring approximately 50mm x 25mm (pocket is toleranced to 52x27mm for a smooth drop-in fit).
I made it for our Lovevery model; if you need to modify it or the angles are different i´ll also upload the riser .step file - please considering sharing the re-mix.
🖨️ Recommended Print Settings (IMPORTANT!):
Since this sits over your baby, strength and dimensional accuracy are critical. Please follow these settings for the safest, best-fitting result:
- Wall Ordering: Inner / Outer / Inner (or standard Inner / Outer). DO NOT use Outer / Inner. Printing the inner walls first guarantees the pocket for the wooden leg is dimensionally accurate and won't shrink.
- Wall Loops / Perimeters: 3 to 4. This creates an incredibly strong structural shell.
- Top/Bottom Shell Layers: 5 to 6 / best to fix thickness to 2mm. This is crucial to ensure the internal "shelf" that the wooden leg rests on is printed thick and solid over the infill.
- Infill: 8% to 10% Gyroid. Combined with 4 walls, Gyroid makes this part virtually indestructible while keeping filament usage reasonable.
- Orientation (Risers): Print standing upright. No supports needed!
- Orientation (Wedge Keys): Print upright with brims. You can increase strength by orienting horizontally, though it requires tiny painted supports for the rounded edges of the wedge
🛠️ Assembly:
- Print 3 Risers 3 top Wedge Keys, 6 bottom TPU plate Wedge Keys if you decide to print it as well, the number of shims / spacers you need for rigid assembly.
- Slide the wooden play gym leg into the top pocket of the riser until it bottoms out.
- Push the Wedge Key through the top slot of the riser, passing through the slot in the wooden leg, until it wedges tightly.
- Test fit and add shims / spacers into the bottom of the slot receiving the feet and test again.
- Optional: Print TPU base module and fit the riser feet into it - it is slightly tapered so a bit of pressure / bend may be necessary. Fix it in place with it´s Wedge Keys on both sides.
- Thread your play mat straps through the bottom slits of the riser (or the mount in front of the TPU base plate).
- Let your baby enjoy their upgraded play space!
