Description
I saw something like this being sold on-line for $100 to $700 bucks so I thought I would create my own version. It will cost about $30 in filament to print plus it seems a lot “cleaner” and more refined than the wooden versions. The standard version has a 150mm x 175mm footprint and is 300mm tall. The larger version is 188mm x 219mm x 375mm tall. Both have 29mm (1-1/8") chickadee-sized openings. Features a seed tray base sloped 2° to the rear with holes for drainage, a clean out door at the rear of the cabin to aid in clean out, holes in the peak of the roof to facilitate a leather cord for hanging and straps connecting the cross members on the left and right sides to aid in alignment (can be removed after assembly).
Assembly is quite straight forward.
- Insert the front and back uprights into the base. (Front is marked with an “F” on the back side.
- CA glue the set of left and right cross members with the alignment strap still attached to aid in positioning. Remove the strap after the glue has dried (if you wish). After the glue was completely dry, I carefully removed the entire tower, then added CA glue to the holes and then re-inserted the tower into the base.
- Install the windows, entrance hole and door in the cabin and set aside.
- CA glue the front fascia to the roof section.
- CA glue the roof to the cabin being careful not to get glue on the sliding door. I centered the door in the slot and applied glue to the left and right edges of the slot. I also applied a tiny amount of glue to the outermost edges of the side logs where they will contact the roof assembly.
- Ca glue the cabin to the tower.
- install the ladder.
- Install the grizzly and the tree.
- Let the birds enjoy their new home.

Membership definitely has it's privilege's. As a member, I will create requested design projects for you that do not exceed an hour in design time. You will be handed over the design to post and collect points on your user account. If you would like to request bigger projects, I will provide an estimate for the time required over the initial FREE hour of time. Please contact me for my hourly design rate. Keep in mind, I am a "dimensional" creator and do not do a lot of "organic" designs.
