Letting Go – Floating Heart Balloon Shadow Box
A minimalist floating shadow-box scene inspired by Banksy's iconic balloon motif.
A little girl reaches toward a floating heart balloon escaping through the open frame, creating a simple but emotional wall-art piece with strong contrast and depth.
Designed specifically for FDM printing with a clean silhouette aesthetic and minimal assembly requirements.
Print Profiles
This model includes both an AMS version and a non-AMS version.
Recommended: Non-AMS Version
The non-AMS version includes:
- A cleaner and more geometric frame
- Integrated wall-mounting holes
- A separate balloon for easier multi-color printing without AMS
- A redesigned ribbon-style balloon string for improved durability and printability
- A small alignment tab on the back of the balloon to simplify positioning and gluing
Assembly
The original AMS version prints as a single multi-color model.
The recommended non-AMS version separates the individual components, allowing each part to be printed in any color combination.
Assembly is required.
For the non-AMS version:
- The girl can be attached to the frame or any other display surface.
- The ribbon should be glued to the balloon.
- The balloon can be attached to the frame or any other display surface.
Depending on how you plan to display the model, CA glue (super glue), double-sided tape, mounting tape, or other adhesives may be suitable.
Display Options
The model can be displayed either with or without the frame.
With the frame, it works as a floating shadow-box wall sculpture.
Without the frame, the individual elements can be arranged freely to create your own composition. The girl, ribbon and balloon can be attached to mirrors, monitor bezels, bookshelves, picture frames, cabinets, walls, or other decorative objects.
Feel free to experiment with different layouts and color combinations to match your space.
Recommended Colors
- Black frame + black figure + red balloon (classic Banksy-inspired look)
- White frame + black figure + red balloon
- Any custom color combination that matches your room or style

This started as an experiment to turn one of my favorite Banksy artworks into a printable wall decoration. It took quite a few iterations to get the floating effect, the separate no-AMS version, and the assembly working the way I wanted.
