Description

A disk-style case designed to hold small, check-source samples, or mineral specimens for use with Geiger counters, scintillation detectors, and other radiation survey instruments.

The case is designed as a simple protective holder that helps keep a sample in a consistent geometry for repeatable detector checks. It includes a main body and removable back cover. An optional back cover with an open aperture is included for alpha-source style samples where direct detector exposure is required.

Recommended use cases include:

  • Holding sealed check sources in a repeatable disk format
  • Organizing labeled calibration or response-check samples
  • Demonstrating detector response with safe educational inserts
  • Using the open-back option for already-sealed alpha samples requiring a direct detection path

Users are responsible for following all applicable local, state, and federal regulations regarding radioactive materials, storage, labeling, handling, and disposal. Always verify that the source is intact, sealed, labeled, and legal to possess before placing it in any printed holder.

Important safety note:
This 3D-printed case does not make radioactive material safe by itself. Plastic does not provide meaningful shielding for many radiation types and does not replace proper source encapsulation, licensing, labeling, or radiation-safety procedures.
