Outdoor Slug Trap – Ferramol

🐌 A highly effective 3D printable slug and snail trap designed for use with Ferramol (iron phosphate) bait.

The enclosed design protects bait from rain, wind, and birds, making it significantly more efficient than scattering pellets on the ground.

Includes an optional anti-tip stabilization system for outdoor use in exposed areas.

⚗️ How Iron Phosphate (Ferramol-type bait) Works

The trap is intended for use with slug baits based on iron(III) phosphate, a naturally occurring compound found in soil.

When slugs and snails consume the bait:

• Feeding stops quickly after ingestion
• Appetite is disrupted, reducing further plant damage
• The pests retreat underground
• They die naturally below the soil surface within a few days

This results in no visible slime trails or dead slugs in the garden, as affected animals typically seek shelter before dying.

Iron phosphate breaks down into naturally occurring iron and phosphate, making it widely accepted in organic gardening practices.

A key benefit of this enclosed design is protection against birds and other animals that may otherwise consume Ferramol pellets when they are scattered openly on the ground.

By keeping bait inside a dedicated housing, the trap:

🧩 Optional Anti-Tip Stabilizer (Included Model)

An additional anti-tip stabilization system is included for optional use in exposed outdoor areas.

Installation:

• Mount using outdoor-rated double-sided adhesive tape, e.g. Scotch FIX EXTREME Exterior
• Use 2 × camping ground stakes (approx. 20–25 cm length, max. 5 mm diameter) for anchoring into soil
• Designed to prevent tipping in wind or when disturbed by animals

• Material: PETG (recommended) or PLA
• Outdoor exposure: PETG preferred for UV and moisture resistance
• Layer height: 0.2 mm
