Highland Weather Stone – Scotland’s Most Honest Forecast

Bring a touch of Highland humour into any home, office, or holiday cottage with this handcrafted Highland Weather Stone. Suspended from a simple arch‑style frame, the stone offers a delightfully low‑tech forecast that’s far more reliable than it should be.

How it “Predicts” the Weather

  • Stone is Wet – Rain
  • Stone is Swinging – Windy
  • Stone is Gone – Storm
  • Stone is White – Snow
  • Stone is Warm – Sunshine
  • Stone Moves Up – Midges lifting it

Designed to be simple, sturdy, and satisfying to assemble, this piece makes a perfect tourist gift, Scottish keepsake, or fun desk accessory. A little slice of Highland charm — and a forecast you can actually trust.

Assembly Instructions – Highland Weather Stone

1. Attach the Stone

  • Cut a small piece of twine.
  • Thread it through the hole or loop at the top of the stone.
  • Tie a secure knot.
  • Loop the other end of the twine over the arch and tie it so the stone hangs freely in the centre.

2. Fix the Weather Plaque

  • Apply a small amount of glue to the back of the plaque.
  • Press the plaque firmly onto the front of the arch stand.
  • Hold for a few seconds, then allow it to set fully.

3. Done
Your Highland Weather Stone is ready to forecast the day with classic Scottish accuracy.

For some reason, it is not possible to print the text as it is set up, it first prints the line from left to right but several layers at once. after that it starts with the letters which are then of course printed in mid-air

Midges are tiny, gnat-like flies (1–3 mm) notorious for forming dense, aggressive swarms. While they resemble small mosquitoes, midges rarely fly in winds over 5 mph. Only the females bite, slicing the skin to feed on blood needed to mature their eggs.

Midges (pronounced mi-jees) are incredibly tiny, biting flies notorious in the Scottish Highlands. Despite measuring only 1-1.5mm long, they hunt in swarms of thousands and deliver highly irritating, itchy bites.
