Sunglases Rack - Stand for Ikea Billy

Bill of Materials
Description
I have so many sunglasses to hide my raccoon eyes 🦝 that I no longer knew where to put them, so instead of buying another piece of furniture and breaking the bank, I decided to rack my brain 🧠 to solve my own misfortune (and yours, incidentally).
This holder is pure spatial efficiency and material optimization: it weighs only 8 grams ⚖️ and prints in less than half an hour without a single support ⏳. The secret lies in the tolerances of the anchoring pin, designed to the millimeter to press-fit into the free holes of your Ikea Billy shelf, embrace the edge, and utilize that dead exterior side that no one uses 📐. No glue, no screws, no fuss; it's a clean design that respects the furniture and holds itself by pure physics 🪵🛠️.
Boost Me (for free)
⚡ I'm not asking you to buy me a beer (though I wouldn't say no 🍻), but with this work, I save you valuable space and make your home look like a luxury optical store display. Hit me with that "Boost", it's free for you and it gives me life to keep designing instead of having to get a real job. Go for it! 🥳✨
- You have the file for the LEFT side and the RIGHT side 🧭. Download the one that suits you best (or the one that fits your shelf)
- Custom-made: Perfect for the Ikea Billy shelf. If you have another shelf with different measurements, leave me a comment with the millimeters and I'll adapt it for you in a moment, that's what we're here for 🛠️.
If it saves you space and you like how it looks, upload a photo with your coolest glasses 📸 and follow the profile. Your photos inspire us all! 🚀
To avoid confusion, I have uploaded 3 different profiles. Basically, they are 3 different models, each with its version for the RIGHT or LEFT side of your Billy shelf:
- 1. Universal Model 1 (Right / Left): The all-rounder and the one I personally like the most, because it's smaller and doesn't steal the show from the glasses. The standard design that works for 95% of glasses on the market. Fast and robust. ⏱️
- 2. Universal Model 2 (Right / Left): Same functional design but a little longer. It's somewhat more optimal for full-frame glasses made of acetate, without nose pads, although just like Universal 1, any glasses can be placed in it✨
- 3. Special Edition "Wayfarer" (Right / Left): I spent the afternoon trying on glasses and testing like crazy 🤯. Although all glasses fit in the previous models, this profile has the angle corrected so that the mythical Ray-Ban Wayfarer (and thick-armed glasses) fit perfectly🕶️🔥. Wayfarers can be placed in the others, but personally, I prefer them in this one.
Actually, all glasses look good in all three models, and since you use very little material, the best thing is to try all three and fill your shelf with the one you like most!
