Description

Description

Slice into fun with this kid-friendly magnetic corn! Designed for imaginative kitchen play, this toy splits into multiple parts, held together by embedded magnets. It’s perfect for pretend cooking, food-themed games, or teaching little ones about healthy eating.

Printing details

  • You will need twelve 15x3 or 10x3 magnets for this model.
  • See the images for the polarity of the magnets. It can be helpful to use a permanent marker to write the polarity of the magnets on them to help keep track.
  • IMPORTANT: Not all magnets are created equal! You want magnets strong enough to hold the pieces together securely, but not so powerful that they'll pinch little fingers. Some 15x3 magnets may be too strong, while others work perfectly. There are two print profiles to accommodate different magnet sizes.
  • The print profile has a pause to insert the magnets.
  • Optionally, add a little bit of glue stick on the top of the magnets to help the next layer adhere.
  • For the husk piece, I recommend adding a little super glue when inserting the magnets and letting it cure for a few minutes before resuming the print.

Filaments used

  • Sunflower yellow - Bambu Basic PLA
  • Lemon yellow - Bambu Matte PLA
  • Grass green - Bambu Matte PLA

Love it. My kids are going to flip out when they see this. Trick I found. Print the leaf part first, and then adhere your magnets to it. Sharpie a + on the top and then for the mapping either put it + side up for the + or + side down for the -. It's what helped me keep it straight.

FYI for the 15x3mm profile, the husk only has a single magnet, while the corn has dual magnets.

The bottom piece of the corn cob in the back, and the part that connects to the husk is at the top of that piece. I double-checked, and there's only a hole for one magnet there 🙂

Thank you I just realized during the printing that the magnets on the bottom of the print are in fact not the magnets that attach to the base. Thank you for the clarification as well as these awesome prints. I'll leave a review as soon as it finishes.

If my kid is taught to cut corn this way, we're gonna have problems. Jokes aside, good model though.

Your magnetic food, fruit and veg are absolutely brilliant! My little niece is turning 1 and she really loves playing with them – you can tell it’s great practice for her fine motor skills too. I’m printing your magnetic fruit using food-safe PETG. With the corn, even inserting the top magnet works. Unfortunately, with the four-part cucumber, there aren’t enough layers possible above the magnets – I haven’t been able to print that yet. It would be really cool if you could move the chambers for the top magnets on the cucumbers 0.6–1 mm further away from the edge. I printed using a Snapmaker U1 with 0.16 mm. My impression of your older models is that, with all of them – except the oranges – the chamber for the magnets could be 0.5–1 mm higher. It’s always a tight fit, and with the bananas and strawberries, the print nozzle has scraped across the magnets. But otherwise: truly excellent work, wonderful design. I admire your talent!

Great design, my son loves it! Used the 10x3 magnets. They stick well, didn't have the need for 15x3 yet.
