Ball Joint Replacement
Print Profile(0)
Description
I have owned this broken scosche phone mount for years. It was my favorite and I couldn't find a replacment locally. Eventually I got a 3d printer and remade the plastic peice that sits atop the flexible arm and locks into the ball socket. instead of surrounding the arm, mine must be forced into the hole and the screw it came with was used to secure it. it's 10 times stronger than the original ball which could always be felt flexing when you adjusted your phone, this upgrade will last significantly longer and is the 7th revision for strength. it could still be stronger though, as the magnet doesn't really need all that much adjustability in my use case, rather than a ball it could most likely work fine with barely pinchpoint at all, ie a solid curved semicircle-ended rod that just pops in. But, this one is still plenty strong for years of use and looks cool.
Printed in Prusa orange PETG. I have little experience with PLA but Id imagine it'd be fine albiet more brittle.
