If you love the outdoors, nature excursions, and can't give up the pleasure of a good hot coffee prepared at the top of a mountain, you know how important it is to have the right equipment. Metal camping mugs are a must-have, but throwing them into your backpack with carabiners or leaving them loose in the car trunk inevitably means finding them scratched, dented, or full of dust.

I designed this two-piece protective container specifically for those who want to protect their mugs as much as possible during outdoor adventures. It's a "print and play" system: the two components screw together perfectly without the need for screws, gaskets, or additional parts.

This project uses the exact same design and robust structure as my other model, the **OutIn Mino - Ultra-Rugged Outdoor Travel Case** (MakerWorld ID: **3027136**).

Design Features:

 **Total Protection:** Custom-shaped to house and prevent mugs from moving or making noise during travel.

 **Zero Hardware:** The screw-closure mechanism is integrated directly into the 3D model. No external screws or springs required.

 **Premium Look & Feel:** Just like in the original OutIn Mino version, the prototype in the photos was printed using **Fuzzy Skin** settings and seam placement set to **Random**. This not only ensures an incredible non-slip grip but also completely hides layer lines, giving the piece an industrial and professional look.

Technical & Print Details:

**Compatibility and Measurements** This project was specifically designed and calibrated for these metal mugs purchased on Amazon, which have a diameter of 64 mm and an overall height of 82 mm when the two mugs are stacked one inside the other. ( https://amzn.eu/d/01IIgIlK )

 **Scaling** The file can be freely scaled to fit other types of mugs. However, pay close attention to the closure tolerance: small, minimal resizes work perfectly, but if you scale the model too aggressively (enlarging or shrinking it excessively), the integrated thread might no longer be printable or usable.

 **Material Choice** I strongly recommend using ABS or PETG to ensure maximum durability. Please avoid PLA: if the container is left in a car under the sun or on the beach in summer, heat will cause deformations that could compromise the thread.

 **Aesthetic Finish** Activate the *Fuzzy Skin* function in your slicer to achieve the splendid rough and matte effect visible in the photos.

What is included in the files?

I've structured the files in a modular way to allow you to configure and set up your personalized version:

 1. **Bottom Part with Handle Slot:** Optimized for mugs with handles or side carabiners.

 2. **"No Handle" Bottom Part:** A smooth and even more compact version, specifically adapted for cylindrical metal mugs without handles.

 3. **Top Cap with Hook:** Includes a practical integrated loop for attaching the container directly to the outside of your backpack with a carabiner.

 4. **Clean Top Cap (Without Hook):** A version with a clean and linear profile. This is the ideal choice if you prefer to place the container inside your backpack without external bulk, or if you prefer to directly use the mug's own handle/carabiner, which protrudes from the slot in the bottom body, to attach it.

Pro Tip: If you want unbeatable aesthetics and strength, use a Carbon Fiber (CF) reinforced filament and enable *Fuzzy Skin*. The final result will astound you!
