Description
This model is part of the Snap Lamp project - you can find a map of the available components on the main project page or view them in this collection.
It's fun to combine materials and I wanted to try and make a base with a new mix of materials (to me) on the exterior. If you saw the video for this crowdfunding campaign, you may have seen a very simple concrete base - this was my first prototype and was quite simple - it also scratched up my table with the rough exterior! Because of this, I learned that I would need find a way to attach a plastic base to the concrete:
- To make this base, you will use a TPU mold which is placed in a rigid PLA shell to set.
- The dial used for the power switch and dimmer is also made from concrete with an embedded PLA connector.
- Laser-cut plywood is used to cover the remaining 3D printed components - in this example I used Sapele plywood with Danish oil. You can find the pattern for the plywood in this project.
