Description

A simple and efficient tray system for organizing 6.5 Creedmoor rounds inside a standard 200-round 7.62 belt box (30‑cal ammo can). The tray geometry is designed to CIP specifications, supporting cartridges up to a maximum overall length of 71.8 mm + 1 mm clearance.

If your handloads exceed the CIP maximum overall length, please use my non‑CIP version of the model, which supports cartridges up to 75.5 mm.

Each tray holds 25 rounds lying flat, with proper support at the case necks to keep everything securely in place. No rattling, no loose movement - just clean, compact storage. Cartridges are still easy to remove: a light press on the bullet tip lifts the base out of the tray for quick access. An ammo box fits up to 12 trays, giving you a total capacity of 300 rounds per box.

The trays are designed for easy handling. All but the top tray feature small integrated handles, making it quick to grab and remove them from the box. The top tray is handle-free to avoid interference with the lid. Since most ammo boxes have a raised or uneven base, a spacer is included to provide a stable platform for the bottom tray.

The parts should be printed with supports to ensure clean handle geometry. The model fits on printers such as the X1C, P2S, or any machine with a similar build volume. On those printers rotate the tray about 45 degrees relative to the front edge of the build plate so there is enough room for the handle support structures to print properly.

Printed in PETG, these trays are durable enough for regular use. If you plan to store ammo in a car trunk or in direct sunlight, ASA is recommended for improved heat resistance.

Recommended quantities to print:

  • 1× bottom spacer
  • 1× top tray without handles
  • 11× standard trays with handles

Update v2
Added a “6.5mm Creedmoor” label to the trays for easier identification, and reduced the handle width from 5 mm to 4 mm to keep future 7.62×51 and 6.5 PRC trays interchangeable. Existing prints are still perfectly usable, so there’s no need to upgrade unless you plan to combine different calibers in one ammo can.

Turned out great! Excellent way to put the some spare ammo cans to use. If possible would be interested in a 7.62x51 option

is there a way to adjust the file to accommodate longer cartridge overall length? in its current configuration the max length is 2.86. I need 2.95

I will soon release a variation for longer cartridges. So far all models here are modeled to CIP max specifications.
