The Lockheed U-2, known as the Dragon Lady, is one of the most iconic high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft ever built. Designed during the Cold War, it operates at extreme altitudes of 70,000+ feet, where the sky fades into the darkness of space and the curvature of the Earth becomes visible.
Fun facts:
- The U-2 flies so high that pilots must wear full pressure suits, similar to astronauts.
- At its operating altitude, the difference between stall speed and maximum speed is only a few knots, known as the “coffin corner.”
- It has such long wings that it behaves more like a glider than a typical jet aircraft.
- Landing requires a chase car on the runway to guide the pilot, because visibility and depth perception are extremely limited.
This MasterBuilds model captures the unique proportions of the U-2 with its long wings and slender fuselage, while keeping the signature snap-fit assembly and efficient print design.
Designed with:

- Clean snap-fit connections
- Optimized print layout
- Minimal material waste and print time
- Strong visual presence despite the lightweight structure
Another MasterBuilds… this time for everyone.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
