Description

Hi, and welcome to my model page. To see this and many more guitar models like it, please come see mine and ML Innovations collection of guitar models and accesories using this link below: https://makerworld.com/en/collections/5352306-wallymocha-ml-innovation

This guitar model was another one of my fans requests. I made this miniature model of Alex Lifeson's guitar. His was a Gibson ES-355 that he nicknamed “whitey”. Alex Lifeson’s "Whitey" (a 1976 Gibson ES-355TD) was his primary studio and stage guitar from 1976 to 2015, featuring on all albums from A Farewell to Kings (1977) to Test for Echo (1996). It is famously associated with the studio recording of the "Limelight" solo, the intro to "Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres," and live performances of most songs during that era. I made the mistake of printing the fretboard with the wrong inlays on my model. I corrected this in the print profile.

I printed this model using Sunlu PLA white (from the CYMK bundle), black, brown, and tan. Elegoo PLA Silk in silver and gold. And AMZ3D light grey.

I assembled the model using super glue and for the strings I use fishing wire.

For best results. I recommend using a High Flow nozzle (I use 0.4mm HF). And a supertack cool build plate from Bambu or Biqu. These are what I recommend for best adhesion and best speed.

I have made a general video describing my many techniques of making these guitar models. I use mostly just super glue, flat file, sand paper and a select size of drill bits to build them. And I use 0.25mm fishing line to add the strings to the model. I go over this in fine detail, just follow the link below for more:

Looks to me that the supports are not there. Normally there should be a support structure that holds the guitar up while printing

Thank you. I used the 3mf and saw there's supports when sliciing but I'll get back to this model once I'm done with the other one. If you could do chris cornell's guitar of audioslave :)

i would love to start a project with your models. they are amazing! one question though, what would be the number or size needed for the recommend fishing line? i see there's different sizes

I frankly don't know what gauge the fishing line is. I have been robbing it from my son's old fishing rod from when he was little. So I would suggest it to be very small line. Nothing too heavy.

Yes I agree! Alex Lifeson is a legend. And worthy of a mini model tribute to his remarkable guitar. I am glad you like it and I hope you enjoy printing it :). If you have a spare boost and don't mind sharing I greatly appreciate the support :)
