A legendary icon in model making, Tamiya is a brand that has marked generations of enthusiasts through its emblematic models, precision, and attention to detail. Instantly recognizable with its two red and blue stars, it symbolizes both Japanese quality and RC passion.
This lightbox highlights this mythical logo in a clean, balanced design faithful to the brand's identity. The contrast between red, blue, and white offers a strong and timeless visual rendering, perfect for all model-making enthusiasts. Once lit, the light enhances the colors and accentuates the depth of the different layers for a sharp and luminous effect.
Whether in a workshop, a room dedicated to RC, or a collection space, this lightbox brings an authentic and nostalgic touch, recalling the first assemblies and memories linked to the brand.
👉 Two front versions are available, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your style or visual preference.
About the lighting:
💡 For lighting, I use a complete LED kit, easy to install and perfectly suited to my models.
👉 USB Bambu LED strip kit is good, otherwise any type of strip is compatible
📦 For a clean and functional finish, I also designed a cable cover compatible with all my rear shells, available for download here:
✨ Tip: To improve light diffusion, I recommend adding a piece of aluminum adhesive tape to the bottom of the box. The result is more homogeneous and luminous!
🧴 Assembly is done using contact glue, such as Bison type (available at Action).
🛠️ Tips for perfect adhesion in 3D printing:
Carefully clean your build plate before each print. Grease residues, dust, or fingerprints can impair adhesion and cause detachments.
Check build plate calibration: a well-leveled build plate ensures a uniform and well-adhered first layer.
Use an appropriate adhesion surface: depending on your material, apply a thin layer of glue stick, an adhesive spray, or a specific tape (e.g., Kapton, BuildTak).
Correctly set the build plate temperature to promote adhesion according to the material used (PLA, ABS, PETG, etc.).
Reduce the print speed of the first layer: a slower speed allows for better filament adhesion to the build plate.
Add a « skirt » or a « brim » in your slicer to stabilize the first layer and limit warping.
