Protect your garden and help control the spread of the Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) with this simple but effective trap lid.

This model is designed to fit a standard Calvé peanut butter jar (approx. 73mm thread), making it easy to reuse a common glass jar. The lid integrates:

• A trap entrance (8.6mm diameter) optimized for Asian hornets
• A built-in hook for easy hanging
• A protective roof/cap to reduce rainwater entering the trap

Just screw it onto your jar, add bait, and hang it in your garden or near problem areas.

• No supports needed (depending on your settings)
• Easy to print
• Reuses everyday materials

Best to print it in PETG if it hangs in the sunshine, I did mine in PLA and it is still going strong in the shade.

Recommended Bait Mixtures

A good bait should attract Asian hornets while minimizing bycatch such as bees. In general, a mix of sweet + slightly fermented liquids works best.

 Proven mix

• 1/3 dark beer
• 1/3 white wine
• 1/3 sugar water (water + sugar or syrup)

The white wine helps repel bees while still attracting hornets.

 Simple alternative

• Beer + grenadine (or another sweet syrup)

Dit deksel past op een Calvé pindakaas pot (±73mm schroefdraad). Ideaal om snel een herbruikbare val te maken tegen de Aziatische hoornaar (Vespa velutina). Het dakje helpt om regen buiten te houden en de haak maakt ophangen eenvoudig.
